Berhan School's long-term goal is to support Arado school in 7 different categories so that the attending students can benefit from their time in Arado School.

Arado School meeting

The seven categories are

1. Getting the necessary office supply for the school offices. The school offices need chairs, tables, computers, and a copy machine. The school has to travel to the city to print and copy texts and homework for the students. Due to the lack of computers, they are forced to handwrite quizzes and exams.

2. Berhan School will be setting up a staff room for teachers. They need a staff room to grade exams or prepare for their class. We aim to provide chairs, filing cabinets, computers, and tables. We also will work with them to provide access to different training for the teachers so they can elevate the teaching and learning process at Arado School.

3. Berhan School will Continue to support students with special needs to stay in school. Among the programs Arado school offers to the students, the free lunch program keeps the students in school and is an incentive to join the school. The people of Assayta are simple farmers who recently suffered flooding. Covid has also created a tremendous economic burden on the already poor community members. Coming to school and getting a free nutritious meal is an excellent motivator for parents to make sure their kids attend school.

Berhan School wants to support this initiative to continue to offer. The school also has a uniform, but only 100 students have a uniform; the remaining 590 students could not afford the uniform, so Berhan School Aims to close this gap and provide uniforms to all Arado Students.

We also want to work with the Gender club (girls club) and help them provide sanitary pads to the young girls so that they do not miss school due to the lack of proper menstruation hygienic products. They have a room set aside for students who get their period while in school. They can come to this room to talk to Hadiya, the club leader and teacher, who speaks with some girls who are just getting their periods for the first time. Having a safe space to learn about an essential part of womanhood is needed and encouraged, so we aim to provide a bed and bathroom with a shower and to equip the club with sewing material so they can make reusable sanitary pads. We also would like to award outstanding students so that they can inspire more students to excel in their education.

4. Berhan School will be setting up a computer lab. The lack of basic technological materials like computers and printers has kept the teacher from teaching at their potential and the students from accessing quality education. Nevertheless, Arado school teachers work every day to help the students reach their potential. Berhan School would like to establish a computer lab center at Arado school so the students can participate in different ICT courses. We also aim to train the students to be able to fix a minor issues with their pieces of equipment. We aim to provide 5-10 computers, one server, one dividing hub, a TV, and a media player for this lab.

5. Berhan School will assist Arado school in Setting up the school's library. Arado School is already trying to establish a school library. Berhan School will join in this effort and assist in establishing a sound library for Arado Students. Besides the classroom, libraries are where students go to expand their knowledge through reading. It also provides a space to do homework or study.

6. Setting up a science lab is very important as they currently do not have a lab. We will help Arado School build a functioning lab for the students to continue exploring and understanding what they are learning in their science classrooms.

7. We aim to help them generate income to manage to cover the cost of their small office supplies or teaching supplies like paper, inc, etc. They already grow grass in their school compound and sell it in the market to cover the cost of coping exams for the students. We want to work with them to continue and improve income so that they cover extra costs for future projects.
